Governing Body

A Message From The Chair Of Governors

The governing body is made up of a group of volunteers, with a constitution allowing for up to 16 members. The headteacher is a member, as are two other members of the school staff, and it includes also parent governors, foundation members appointed by the diocese and some representation of the local authority.

The governing body has a strategic role, not including day-to-day management of the school, and acts as a critical friend of the school, with an overall accountability function. It has the interests at heart of the whole school community, and indeed the local community which the school serves together with a much wider community. The governing body fully supports both the Christian ethos of the school and the continual and relentless drive for school improvement. It recognizes and also fully supports the strong and sensitive leadership shown by the headteacher, who inspires the commitment of all the staff to the children and their needs, and gains much respect from the children and their families.

The governing body and its committees all meet termly, with focused agendas which enable issues important to our school to be addressed on a regular basis.

Governors visit the school while it is in session, and try to have a visible presence, also, at events involving parents, thus making it possible – in addition to the information shared at meetings - to have a role in the all-important aspect of the school’s evaluation of its provision and progress.

The governing body shares with the school staff the aim of trying to ensure that the children are given every opportunity to reach their full potential, to develop their strengths, to address areas where there can be improvement and to be safe and happy throughout their school life.
